US, Russia and India

One does not need to watch Indian politics with much strain to realize that the communist manifesto in India has a strong repulsion to US and attraction towards Russia.Russia had been a primary supplier of defence equipments from pre cold war times. And this relation has come to co developed Brahmos. All thats good but the slightest move to improve the relations with US comes with dreadful consequences as pulling off the support to a govt. But for the first time here we have the communist leaders come up for a logical cause. The end user monitoring system. As per improving transfer of equipment and know how from the western country the visiting secretary of state Hilary Clinton has made it clear that any tranfer between countries will take place only if they are allowed to monitor how the tranferred 'goods' are being used.Though the US makes it a mandatory requirement that has to be fulfilled by any country it raises some serious security concerns. Not that we should in any way doubt the ministers of India in there ability, it is a requirement that before such agreements are made proper talks be held at the parliament level.
It cannot be undemined that the NAM has of years become less and less important after the cold war. This could be the reason why increasing relationship with West has upset Russia. Here what one must realize is that the defence equipment sales has drifted its epicentres which were just US and Soviet during the cold war.It would really be a challenge to the Indian govt to go on with global trends without hurting long lived ties.
